Welcome to the AMD Graphics Newsletter!

The purpose of this newsletter is to bring you up to speed regarding all the big and small happenings of the Graphics World, and to point you to the latest drivers for your AMD Radeon graphics card. Each month we update our AMD Catalyst driver suite to introduce new, cutting-edge features as well as bring fixes and optimize performance across various games.

This month's Catalyst, the 11.8 brings a number of major improvements, below you'll find a list of these. Enjoy the read!

Catalyst 11.8 driver
We posted a preview driver ahead of our regular WHQL schedule to give you a taste of what's coming in the full blown release of Catalyst 11.8, but now the final version is live on our website. You'll find that there are several performance improvements in popular titles, as well as a couple of new features

Here's what you can expect to see

New Features:

  • AMD Overdrive has been enhanced to include both CPU and GPU over-clocking controls within the AMD Vision Control Center
  • CPU over-clocking is only supported on AMD Black edition CPUs

Performance improvements:

  • Up to 10% in Crysis 2 DirectX 11 version for both non-Anti-Aliasing, and application enabled Anti-Aliasing cases on the AMD Radeon HD 6000 and ATI Radeon HD 5000 series of products
  • Up to 8% in Fear 3 DirectX 11 version with application enabled Anti-Aliasing on the AMD Radeon HD 6000 and ATI Radeon HD 5000 series of products
  • Up to 30% when AMD's Morphological Anti-Aliasing (MLAA) is enabled through the AMD Catalyst Control Center on AMD Radeon HD 6000 and ATI Radeon HD 5000 series of product
  • Improves performance up to 20% in Call of Duty Black Operations for single GPU and Multi-GPU configurations on the AMD Radeon HD 6000 and AMD Radeon HD 5000 Series

It is also worth mentioning that our A-series APUs will benefit from these improvements, especially when using them with discrete graphics, in Dual Graphics mode.

New Samsung 3D panels available
Samsung has recently unveiled a new family of 3D monitors, that support HD3D. With these monitors, all AMD Radeon HD 6800 and HD 6900 series graphics card owners can unlock the full potential of AMD's HD3D technology over DisplayPort, driving these displays in 120Hz at 1080p resolution.

We've checked them out in our labs, and they look really gorgeous, but their 3D image is also really bright and crisp!
