P8Z77-V Premium is the first and only Intel certified Thunderbolt motherboard in existence (please read the Thunderbolt article in this month's newsletter to find out why certification is so important). Featuring the fastest multipurpose interconnect available on the market, Thunderbolt is the cutting edge of data transfer technology. With up to 10Gbps data rate, double the maximum transfer rate of USB 3.0, nothing else beats Thunderbolt in terms of data volume transferred per second. Thunderbolt also supports up to 2560x1600 resolution via DisplayPort technology, as well as instant plug-and-play and daisy-chain capabilities. P8Z77-V Premium features one rear Thunderbolt jack as well as an onboard Thunderbolt header connection for additional port support via the ASUS Thunderbolt/EX PCIe x4 expander card upgrade.

SSD Caching II

Upgraded with multiple caching function and coupled with four extra 6Gbs onboard SATA ports, ASUS SSD Caching II is designed to substantially increase performance by using multiple installed SSDs as a cache for frequently accessed data. Fully customizable to the user's needs, SSD Caching II can be set to utilize any number of installed SSDs with no limitation of SSD size or configuration. Minimize cost by matching one or multiple SSDs to any number of HDDs and enjoy SSD level response times for data access with HDD level storage. SSD Caching II is a single-click, no reboot required system function with optional backup capabilities to prevent data loss, for a safe and inexpensive way for the best possible performance experience.
