ASUS Shows Off World's Most Powerful Tablet at CES 2011

Overview
Innovation. Choice. Clear and better alternatives to the products that have been available to consumers for the last year. These were the dominant themes from ASUS at CES 2011. At the top of the board, ASUS introduced an impressive new family of tablets that will give consumers and institutions a very compelling choice in the growing tablet market. The company also showed off various other new products with eye-popping engineering and design improvements, including new Intel 2nd gen Core Processor based notebooks, TUF series motherboards and ROG gaming components.

The Stars of the Show
The stars of the ASUS lineup this year were clearly the new tablets. The new Eee Pad Family includes the Windows 7-based Eee Slate EP121 (available in January), the innovative Android "Honeycomb"-based Eee Pad Transformer (available in latte Q2), the Android "Honeycomb"-based Eee Pad Slider (available in late Q2), and the Eee Pad MeMo (available in Q3).

Eee Pad Slate EP121
For consumers who value productivity, entertainment and desktop power on-the-go, ASUS offers the Eee Pad Slate EP121 (above) which boasts a 12.1" multi-touch screen with Intel Core i5 processor technology running on a Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. The Eee Slate EP121 is the most powerful tablet ever introduced and allows the user to run a variety of desktop applications on its 64GB SSD drive while offering various data input options, ranging from a Wacom Digitizer pen to a Bluetooth wireless keyboard. The Wacom Digitizer pen offers 360 degrees of barrel rotation along with omni-directional pen tilt, and 1,024 levels of pressure-sensitivity. Its also features an IPS touchscreen with a 175 degree viewing angle, and is protected by Gorilla glass for excellent durability in most any environment.

Eee Pad Slider
The 1.5 lb, .5" thin Eee Pad Slider (above) puts an innovative twist on the traditional tablet with an integrated keyoard that slides out when needed, transforming the Eee Pad into a productivity tool. It is equipped with 10.1" IPS touchscreen with a 175 degree viewing angle, NVIDIA Tegra 2 mobile processor technology and will ship with Android "Honeycomb" 3.0. The Eee Pad Slider also is protected by Gorilla glass. It will also run for up to eight hours without a charge (MobileMark 2007 in Reader Mode), and will be available in late Q2.

Eee Pad Transformer
The Eee Pad Transformer (above) comes with a docking option that incorporates a full QWERTY keyboard and serves as a battery extension station for up-to 16 hours of non-stop computing (eight hours undocked, MobileMark2007 in Reader Mode). Like the Eee PC Slider, it is also equipped with 10.1" IPS touchscreen with a 175 degree viewing angle, NVIDIA Tegra 2 mobile processor technology and will ship with Android 3.0. Like the other Eee Pads, it is protected by Gorilla glass, and it will be available in late Q2.

Eee Pad MeMo
The Eee Pad MeMO, which will arrive in Q3, will have a 7-inch capacitive screen powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon mobile processor. It will ship with Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) featuring HD playback capabilities, mobile gaming, an exciting Web experience and is accompanied by a stylus pen for taking handwritten notes. Full HD 1080p video recording and playback can be experienced at 30FPS. The Eee Pad MeMo will run for up to eight hours without a charge (MobileMark2007 in Reader Mode). It is expected to ship in Q3.

ASUS Notebooks with 2nd Gen Intel Core Processor Technology
ASUS also revealed a new lineup of portable PCs that make the most of the new Intel technology through exclusive innovations and design:

  • Republic of Gamers (ROG) mobile products include the new G53SW and G73SW (above) models that ship with built-in 3D display technology for even more exciting gaming and multimedia
  • Setting a new audio standard for PCs, N Series notebooks employ exclusive ASUS SonicMaster technology for truly lifelike sound
  • The revamped K Series of notebooks uses IceCool thermal design to ensure better cooling and a new input experience for mobile users
  • The ASUS-Automobili Lamborghini VX7 affords luxurious design inspired by the Italian Supercar firm while offering spectacular performance

Sandy Bridge-based G and N Series notebooks will be available for purchase in the US and Canada in mid-January.

ASUS P8P67 Series Motherboards
These new Sandy Bridge-based motherboards feature Dual Intelligent Processor 2 technology, which consists of twin embedded co-processors that ensure optimized energy consumption and enhanced performance controls not available in other motherboards. Additional ASUS exclusives include the mouse-controlled EFI BIOS interface, BT GO! Bluetooth management and the AI Suite II application center that is the pinnacle of user functionality and control.

In addition to these P8P67 Series, ASUS has developed a complete array of new motherboards based on the P67 chipset that include the Republic of Gamers (ROG) Maximus IV Extreme, the heavy-duty TUF Series SABERTOOTH P67 and the P8P67 WS Revolution workstation motherboard. Truly innovative from the ground up, the new ASUS P67 series of motherboards is the first and only choice for performance, stability and reliability.
