IntroductionEveryday I see more people talking on cell phones with wireless hands-free devices, but the days of having a wire attached to your phone to have a hands free conversation are almost gone. Now Bluetooth headsets are the choice of many for hands-free solutions, as a matter of fact I can’t remember the last time I saw someone with a wire attached to their cell phone. Most people have retired their wires and now just talk on their phones or use Bluetooth headsets. Introducing the FreeStyler 600 Bluetooth V2.0 headset, SOYO has made a product that is easy to use and is compatible with any Bluetooth enabled cell phone. Currently, the majority of newer cell phones are equipped to handle Bluetooth devices, making Bluetooth hands-free headsets an option for most. In this review, SOYO’s Freestyle 600 headset is examined.
The SOYO Bluetooth headset with the latest technology 2.0 is designed for a more secure single link and crystal clear phone conversations. The headset is a compact design with a light weight ear piece for comfort. Adjustable ear loop designed to fit precisely over your ears on the left or right side. Testing & ResultsTesting Methodology
To test the SOYO Bluetooth head set, I paired it with my Motorola RAZR V3 cell phone and used it continuously for a 4-day period. During the 4-day period I only charged the headset 1 time, the headset is rated for 8 hours of talk time or 200 hours standby time and never died during the testing period. The headset is capable of doing many functions after you get used to using the 3 buttons located on the unit, these 3 buttons are MFB (on/off), Volume –, and Volume +. Aside from their standard functions these 3 buttons can be used for:
Transferring a Call between Headset and Cell Phone: Press and hold both MFB and Volume- until beep is heard or use cell phone to select. The sound quality of the headset was good when making and receiving calls and volume output was adequate in most every situation. Test Equipment
ResultsThe sound quality of the headset was good when making and receiving calls and volume output was adequate in most every situation. I was able to adjust the output of the headset as loud as I needed it which seems to be a problem with many cell phone accessories. I wore the headset for up to 3 hours at a time and the unit was comfortable for up to 3 hours, after 3 hours my ear did get a little sore. This was easily remedied by putting the unit in my other ear. Once I got used to the multiple features the headset is capable of by using the 3 buttons located on it, I was able to exercise many functions I would usually have to do by pressing buttons on my phone. These features became very useful, especially when driving in my car. The SOYO headset is slim and small compared to other headsets weighing only 9.0 grams. The headset has a led that flashes red when it is not paired to a device and blue when it is actively paired. The SOYO headset was easy to charge and easy to pair with my cell phone.
Final ThoughtsEven though I have only used a handful of Bluetooth enabled headsets, SOYO's Freestyler seemed to perform just as well as other products I have tried. With a long standby and talk time and many in-call features I found the headset to be a welcome addition to my cell phone. Small electronic devices are always susceptible to loss, damage, and theft, the SOYO headset is not different. However, if you do need to replace your headset, the SOYO Freestyler should not set you back too much. I found the price of other SOYO headsets to be rather inexpensive and for someone like me that can't hold on to a pair of sunglasses past a few months, this product is priced in the right range.
