XWave Visualizer App Debuts: Tool To Control the Wandering Mind

XWave device and app may help to increase odds of improving ADHD by improving focus and concentration

Visualizer app available for download on iTunes

PLX Devices Inc., a premier supplier of innovative cutting edge consumer electronics, announces the availability of the XWaveTM Visualizer app for iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad. The XWaveTM Visualizer app, in conjunction with the XWaveTM hardware, allows users to improve their focus and ability to concentrate. In a our fast-paced-society where everyone has become a bit "ADHD", for the first time there is a tool that helps people grab control of their minds.

The XWaveTM, powered by Neurosky Inc. technologies, for the first time brings an extra sensory dynamic never seen before at the consumer level. XWaveTM senses the faintest electrical impulses transmitted through ones skull to the surface of the forehead and converts these analog signals into digital signals. For years, this technology has been used by doctors to treat ADHD in patients.

This clinical technology is called Bio Feedback, which is the process of becoming aware of various physiological functions using instruments that provide information on the activity of those same functions. The goal is being able to manipulate those functions, which helps to improve focus and the ability to concentrate. Processes that can be controlled include brainwaves, muscle tone, skin conductance, heart rate and pain perception.

The Xwave visualizer is the consumer first consumer evolution of a product based on the Medical Technology that allows people to control their attention levels. Further applications are in development to help ADHD patients, which will increase the odds of improving the conditions of those with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). But for the rest of us who "feel" like we have ADHD, it provides a chance to acquire control over our overwhelmed, wandering minds.

In daily 5-10 minute intervals, the XWaveTM Visualizer gives you/users an opportunity to train your brain by controlling its attention and meditation levels. With this application, the user goes through different stages to control the brain's functions. Objectives include levitating a ball for a certain amount of time, changing a color based on the brain's relaxation level and training the brain to maximize its attention span.

"The human brain is the most powerful, complex thing in the universe, and for the first time, we're able to harness its amazing power and connect it to everyday technology," said Paul Lowchareonkul, founder and CEO of PLX Devices Inc. "Xwave visualizer has personally helped me understand and hone my attention and relaxation skills. I feel better and work more efficiently by training my brain with Xwave Visualizer. This technology is designed for everyone to use and improve their quality of life."

Just what I need, another distracting device on my iPhone.

As a former elementary school principal, I am quite aware that attention difficulties are just the tip of the iceberg. ADHD children can't filter out distractions, finish tasks on-time, use their memory optimally, etc. An iPhone app doesn't teach these skills. Who wants to wear a silly looking headset?

My wife and I opted to use cognitive training for our son, Alex. We used Play Attention (#playattention.com with no silly headsets -- they use an armband) and ADHD Nanny (#adhdnanny.com). We've been very successful with these approaches. We also changed our parenting skills with great success.

It's just important to know that medicine teaches nothing. Parents and teachers must actively participate to help change a child's life.
