48TB NAS and iSCSI Storage in a Single Rackmount

Sans Digital, a leading provider of high performance storage subsystems, is introducing the EN424L+BXE and EN424W+BXE, 4U 24-bay rackmount storage with up to 48TB of total storage capacity based on either Linux (Proprietary 64bit NAS + iSCSI OS) or Windows (Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Standard). Built on the existing popular EliteNAS series that ranges from 1U 4-bay to 3U 16-bay rackmounts, the new EN424L+BXE / EN424W+BXE offers the same flexibility of supporting both NAS and iSCSI storage while increasing the data storage capacity to 24 hard drives in one single rackmount unit.

Today's network environment is often composed of various types of operating systems such as PC, Mac or Linux. A NAS system such as the EliteNAS EN424L+BXE / EN424W+BXE is a perfect choice when data sharing among dissimilar network clients is needed. The iSCSI feature allows the EliteNAS to act as a direct attached storage in an IP network enabling server storage expansion for virtual machines using VMware Vsphere or Microsoft Hyper- V. The built-in expansion port on the EN424L+BXE / EN424W+BXE is also capable of expanding up to 122 drives by adding EliteSTOR JBOD units for up to a maximum of 244TB in total storage capacity. To maintain optimal performance, the EliteNAS series utilizes the latest Intel Nehalem Xeon processor Quad-Core CPU and provides two built-in Gigabit Ethernet ports along with 10Gbps network interface upgrade option.

In addition to its large storage capacity, the EliteNAS EN424L+BXE / EN424W+BXE is also equipped with enterprise redundancy features for maximum data protection. Utilizing dedicated RAID processor, hard drive failures are protected by RAID 1, 3, 5, 6, 10 30, 50 and 60. The EN424L+BXE also provides NAS-to-NAS folder replication and snapshot feature allowing simple data backup. The built-in event log and e-mail notification provides system event records and instant notifications. Based on Windows Server 2008 R2 file services, the EN424W+BXE provides storage technology features including file de-duplication, volume shadow services and
iSCSI software target for iSCSI block level transfer. With hot-swappable redundant power supplies, virus resistant OS, and SSD-like disk-on-module, the EliteNAS minimizes system downtime if failures should ever occur. Server fail-over mirroring is also available upon request.
