24Gb/s PERFORMANCE W/ 6Gb/s SATA & SAS 24-BAY JBOD

Sans Digital, a leading provider of high performance storage subsystems, is announcing the EliteSTOR ES424X6+B, a 4U 24-bay JBOD storage rackmount with 6G SAS and SATA hard drive support and a maximum bandwidth of 24Gbps when 6Gbp hard drives and controller are used concurrently.

In addition to its outstanding performance, the ES424X6+B allows up to 5 units to be daisy-chained together, providing up to a total of 240TB storage capacity. The ES424X6+B also supports both 3G & 6G SATA or SAS hard drives and comes with a abundant array of features such as standard redundant power supply modules, fan / power supply failure alert with mute function, and SGPIO support which enables the HBA controller to access real-time information regarding the ES424X6+B and each of the hard drives installed in the unit. Using only one cable, the ES424x6+B provides up to 48TB of storage capacity in one single unit and allows up to two HDD failures without data loss when RAID 6 is implemented at speed excess of 1700MB/s.

The 6G technology was developed to address the demand for greater data transfer speed to cope with the new IO performance requirement needed for information technology and video editing applications. 3Gbps performance of the SAS expander is currently limited to 1200MB/s in bandwidth and generates about 700MB/s in RAID 6 environment. The introduction of 6Gbps RAID controller card, such as LSI 9280 series, doubles the bandwidth and triples the performance to 2400MB/s and 1700MB/s in read (1500MB/s in write). At the same time, ES424X6+B is backward compatible to all 3G RAID controllers, allowing immediate deployment and later upgrades.
