GeForce Will Make All Of Your Dreams Come True Well, if your dreams are about kick-ass surround gaming like MaximumPc does, the above statement is true. That is what MaximumPC said when they streeted their big MaximumPC Dream PC Issue. They built the Dream PC with "the best hardware available". They stuffed it with not one, not two, but three EVGA GeForce GTX 580 GPUs. "After much soul searching, we decided that EVGA's Superclocked GTX 580 cards in tri-SLI were the right option because they offer better scaling than four GPUs for most games, and hell, the next version of Unreal Engine 3 was demoed using three GTX 580s." Three GPUs. Three 30-inch displays. Gaming in surround. That sounds eye-nfinitely better than the competition. 3D on the PC. Yipeee! Movies are making the move, and so is gaming. 3D is where it is at. And if video games are your thing, the PC is where 3D is really at, with over 550 games in 3D. All the major consoles combined only have around 50 games in 3D. "Regardless of how much money you spend, 3D on the PC looks great." While some companies delegate innovations to third parties, NVIDIA takes complete and total ownership of the 3D ecosystem, this guarantees high quality experiences for end users. "The company (AMD) delegates its 3D support in games to third party companies and as such can lose some quality in the end user experience. For those considering NVIDIA the upgrade path is much more simple, you are going to want a new card, glasses and 3D capable monitor. Once all three are setup, NVIDIA's software does the rest." 3D makes Duke Nukem' more bad ass. "I really wish there was a way other than words that I could explain to you the full magnitude of awesomenessthat this game has to give when viewed in 3D. I'm hoping you don't just take my word for it, find a 3D demo at your local store and ask them to load up Duke Nukem Forever, or better yet go to a friend's house to experience it, I guarantee you'll be racing the store to buy your own setup when you realize the difference of night and day that you can experience in games like this in 3D." Portal 2 also looks killer. "I'm happy to report that Portal 2 had no issues when played with NVIDIA's 3D Vision drivers. The game looks and plays absolutely beautifully." Everyone loves Crysis 2 in 3D. "Crysis 2 is really the only game I've encountered that makes me feel like I'm missing something when I'm not playing it in 3D Vision mode; it's the definitive stereoscopic release, and if you're at all interested in three-dimensional immersion, then this is the one to try." Remember if you are going to run Crysis 2 DirectX 11 in 3D Vision, make sure you are using the latest 275.50 Beta drivers to get all the awesome you can. Fast. Notebook GPU. Ever. Still. It is easy to claim ‘world's fastest' in a press release or on Facebook, it is much harder to have the world's fastest notebook GPU for two years running like NVIDIA has. The new Alienware M17X is equipped with the world's fastest notebook GPU, so you can play DX 11 titles at HD resolutions with all the eye candy dialed up. "The M17x R3 is a very impressive system which excels on build quality and design. The addition of NVIDIA's GTX 580M to the configuration options makes it a phenomenal mobile gaming system too, allowing us to game at 1920x1080 with maximum image quality settings in the latest titles." It also has Optimus. "Being able to use the system when away from the desk for nearly 4 hours of Windows based tasks is ideal, longer if we are just browsing." The GeForce GTX 580M offers a very compelling blend of extreme graphics performance and must have features. Whether it is battery life savings provided by Optimus technology, industry-leading 3D Vision technology, high performance Verde drivers, or proven stability of SLI technology the GeForce GTX 580M delivers a notebook gaming experience unmatched by the competition. If that is too rich for you, the GeForce GTX 560M-equipped ASUS G74SX is a Laptop Magazine Editor's Choice winner. "With the G74SX-A2, ASUS has updated its desktop gaming notebook in all the right ways. While the changes to the chassis are subtle, the design feels fresh and is comfortable to use for long stretches. Inside, the SSD, quad-core CPU, and one of NVIDIA's most powerful GPUs mean that gamers won't be wanting for performance, either." GeForce GTX means better gaming. Period. Lenovo Joins The Tegra Party Tegra is all over the new wave of Android devices. "Some of the most exciting innovations are happening on Android tablets powered by NVIDIA's Tegra 2 dual-core processors." It is empowering developers and enabling cool stuff like multi-platform gaming. "When we first started working on our technology, not many companies really understood what Tegra is or how it will change the market. But at my recent mobile gaming session at the Game Developers' Conference (GDC), I was amazed at the interest that Tegra received, and it's clear more developers are looking into Android and Tegra." The latest OEM to get in board is Lenovo. Lenovo announced new tablets based on Android 3.1 and featuring NVIDIA's dual-core Tegra 2 super chip. These tablets -- the IdeaPad Tablet K1 for consumers and the ThinkPad Tablet for business customers - are also the very first Honeycomb tablets to include support for Netflix video streaming. "The IdeaPad Tablet K1 and ThinkPad Tablet are Lenovo's Android devices. The former is aimed at consumers and the Thinkpad is aimed at the enterprise. Both run Android (Honeycomb) 3.1, both include the NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor running at 1.0 GHz, and both offer configurations for 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB of storage. Both support 1 GB of DDR2 RAM. In short, those specs add up to good, solid, screaming-fast devices." Tegra-powered tablets are plentiful, with models from Acer, ASUS, Dell, LG, Motorola, Samsung, Sony, Toshiba, and others. Tegra-based super phones can be had from LG and Motorola. NVIDIA-based Hybrid tablets are out now from Asus and Fujitsu. Adobe CS5.5 Premiere Pro <3 Quadro Adobe CS5.5 Premiere Pro user? Repeat after me, "Must have a Quadro 4000 for Mac, Must have a Quadro 4000 for Mac..." Theo Valich, longtime observer, reporter, and reviewer of all things NVIDIA, and his colleague Hrvoje Simic, recently tested our Quadro 4000 for Mac for BrightSideofNews (aka BSN*), putting it through its paces with Adobe CS5.5 PPRO, and comparing/contrasting it vs. Final Cut Pro X, in addition to running some 4K workflow tests. The end result on this one? Editors' Choice!
