Asus Notebooks with Sandy Bridge Debut

ASUS Launches New Sandy Bridge Notebooks

The names of the CPUs are the same - Core i7, Core i5, Core i3 - but the 2nd gen Intel Core processors powering select ASUS notebooks offer significant performance and thermal improvements over the previous generation of processors. They are a family of processors that Intel CEO Paul Otellini called "the best product we've ever built." You won't need to wait long to get them, either. ASUS will launch the Sandy Bridge-powered N53SV in mid-January, the G73SW in mid-January, and the K53 at the end of February.

A Bridge to Better Performance
Intel's 2nd gen Core processors are part of a platform change (the new platform is called Huron River) that includes a new Intel Mobile Express Series 6 chipset, new wireless modules, and of course the Sandy Bridge processor. ASUS internal tests show that notebooks with the new processors yield up to a 15% increase in performance and produce less heat, based on the 32nm production process of the CPUs. Graphics on-die is another feature that sets the new processors apart, adding DirectX 10 support, better 3-D image-rendering for games, faster image editing and improved HD video. The CPU graphics core shares the graphics processing load with another dedicated graphics processor (if any), meaning the 2nd gen Core processors coupled with a GPU is an especially potent combination. On its own, Intel's benchmarks put their graphic performance at 2x that of previous integrated graphics systems.

The N53SV: Hear the Power. Feel the Power.
