Silicon Power helps launch Solid State Drive Alliance

Silicon Power, one of SSDA's original Founding companies, attended the Opening Ceremony of SSD Alliance at Sherwood Hotel, Taipei Taiwan to witness the official launch of the organization and the membership. The Solid State Drive Alliance (SSDA) was founded by the Taiwan's Control IC and Modules manufacturers and TOSHIBA Corporation. The Opening Ceremony was held by SSDA's original Founding companies and co-sponsored by Semiconductor Industry Promotion Office of Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs. Dave Chen, CEO of Silicon Power, said it was a necessary to understand the consumer end's needs and expectations in order to offer high quality and high performance SSD products, which are intended to compete with traditional Hard Disk Drives. "We need to answer the question of quality and price concerns from consumers," says Dave Chen.

The purpose for establishing SSDA is to integrate the industry resources to define and promote the SSD Compliance Standard. SSDA's goal is to initialize and create an industry acknowledgeable Compliance Program in accordance with the test platform standard defined through leaders of industry professionals.

Silicon Power has launched a series of SSD products in global market. With rising numbers of product developers plunging into SSD manufacturing, Silicon Power will cooperate with members and third parties to develop and promote product compliance and quality standard in a near future market place. Silicon Power had also demonstrated its products and services in the exhibition area providing a little extra edge for the event. The highlight of the event raised during the Opening Ceremony session when all of the Founding representatives gathered on the stage jointly activating the flashing lights on a life sized SSD Module symbolizing the official launch of the organization and the membership. It was estimated more than 200 attendees from over 70 companies had shown up at the Opening Ceremony.
