Sans Digital, a brand of high performance storage subsystems, today introduced a compact network attached storage server that could also be used as a direct attached storage via iSCSI support. The MobileNAS MN4L+(B) is a 4-bay NAS / DAS in a tower configuration that utilizes Intel Pentium M CPU and 512 DDR-2 memory for ultimate enterprise performance. Like the previously released AccuNAS AN2L, many useful features are integrated into the MN4L+ software design to benefit end-users as well. The MobileNAS MN4L+ (silver) and MN4L+B (black) allow the sharing of documents, files, and digital media such as music, photos, and videos with everyone on the home or office network. Utilizing the latest SATA II technology, the MN4L+(B) supports hot-swap with RAID 1 (mirroring), 0 (stripping), 5 and 6, allowing the protection against hard drive failures or drive space expansion. The unit is expandable and is designed with USB 2.0 / eSATA / Firewire 400 expansion ports and iSCSI initiator and target support for the connection to other USB, eSATA, Firewire 400, and iSCSI storage devices. Like the previous AN2L, the MN4L+ also allows playback of digital multimedia directly via PS3/PSP, XBOX and other digital media player using UPnP and DLNA. The built-in account management allows safe data keeping by giving read-only or full read / write permissions to specific users or groups. With the increased processing power, MN4L+(B) is able to provide enterprise level features such as snapshot with scheduling and real-time NAS-to-NAS folder replication. The MN4L+(B) supports PC (Windows 2000, XP, 2003 and Vista), MAC, or Linux-based network, making it an ideal network storage sharing platform. "More enhanced than most of the 4-bay tower NAS on the market, the MobileNAS MN4L+(B) series offers a performance tuned network attached storage solution for high capacity network based data storage," stated Grandy Chen, Sans Digital's President. "With a compact tower design and built-in game console support, the unit is also an economical yet feature-loaded product for home users."
