Sans Digital EliteRAID-ER104I+B / ER208I+B Dual-Channel iSCSI RAID Storage Launched

Sans Digital, a leading provider of high performance storage subsystems, is introducing dual channel iSCSI storage solutions in 1U and 2U rackmount formats. The EliteRAID ER104I+B and ER208I+B are 1U 4-bay and 2U 8-bay rackmounts implemented with iSCSI hardware and RAID engines to provide up to 100MB/s per channel, or over 190MB/s per dual channels, and up to RAID level 6 or 60 for data protection.

iSCSI interface is widely used on data centers and DVR security systems due to its unique SAN features, which includes dedicated storage network for easy management, consolidated storage to improve total storage utilization, and storage sharing between multiple servers. iSCSI technology utilizes the widely available Ethernet network as a low cost alternative to Fibre Channel connection, while still providing sufficient performance to satisfy the storage requirement of small and medium businesses. The ER104I+B and ER208I+B are designed with improved read / write speeds, which allow full utilization of maximum Gigabit Ethernet bandwidth. iSCSI dedicated engine along with Intel IOP processor allow the offloading of complex RAID calculations, where data could be protected by RAID 6 / 60 without sacrificing performance. With dual gigabit network port supporting MPIO and SCSI-3 persistent reservation, both models are capable of providing high availability options for clustering servers. The ER104I+ and ER208I+ offer cross platform support in Windows, MAC, and Linux, allowing a mixed networking environment. Built-in IP based Web Management interface, along with serial and SSH connection, provide easy system monitoring and managing anywhere within the network. Optional redundant power supplies are available for mission critical environment.

In addition to their performance and redundancy benefits, the ER104I+B and ER208I+B also support VMware ESX server for storage virtualization. VMware ESX Server and VMware Virtual Infrastructure features such as vMotion and VMHA are supported by both models. They are designed with hot-swappable hard drives trays and built-in mounting brackets / rails. The ER104I+B and ER208I+B retail at $1099 and $1599 respectively.
