NVIDIA nTerresting News 3-July-2010In this Issue:
3D Vision Surround Is Here With the release of our 258.69 driver, NVIDIA 3D Vision Surround is out in the wild. And people are going wild for it. "Overall, after spending some time with the 3D Vision version of NVIDIA Surround I have to agree that it provides a killer experience and is well worth having." The GeForce GTX 480 SLI set-up runs quiet. "Amazingly, even with a pair of GTX 480 cards, this system is amazingly quiet ...It's not often we see a passively cooled setup in an enthusiast system but this was accomplished by Digital Storm to great effect." 3D Vision Surround is easy to set-up and requires no special connectors. "NVIDIA doesn't have the complication of the sometimes troublesome [AMD] DisplayPort connection things just seemed to work easier. Even in setting up our Eyefinity rig for comparison testing this past week I was frustrated with the state of the DP adapters and time outs, etc" Even the lower-priced GeForce GTX 470 SLI proved a winner, especially in 3D Vision Surround. "We found some GTX 470s on sale for $309 yesterday (actually as low as $294 after rebate today) while the Radeon HD 5870s are still stuck at $389/379 giving NVIDIA's option an $80 advantage per card, or $160 for the SLI/CrossFire configurations. If we look back the performance results we saw on the 2D testing you will find that NVIDIA's GTX 470s were consistently faster than the HD 5870s in CrossFire or even the HD 5970 dual-GPU graphics card. That $100 adapter requirement is obviously a problem for ATI's bottom line, and thus for consumers' as well." NVIDIA Surround is the bomb! "NV Surround gaming with GTX 480 SLI will give you the best gaming experience you have ever had." 3D Vision Surround let's you span games across three monitors in full stereoscopic 3D for an incredibly immersive gaming experience. 3D Vision Surround will be available later in the Summer for both GTX 400 Series and GTX 200 Series GPUs. 3D Vision Surround has won the HardOCP Editor's Choice Gold Award, HotHardware Recommended Product, and was named one of the nine best things at E3 2010 by MaximumPC The Predator Has Returned On Monday, Acer introduced a refresh to its high end gaming rig lineup. Beside a stunning case, Acer used NVIDIA technology to make it stand-out. "The system comes in an Acer Predator case, this time with a new paint job. There's more black paint on the exterior, and the orange main body still has sculpted lines that evoke a science fiction movie look. The system can be upgraded to the users' needs, including three additional hot-swap hard drive bays, support for two more GTX470 graphics cards (for Triple SLI duties), another optical drive, PCI/PCIe card expansion, and a plethora of external expansion options." By selecting GeForce GTX 470 graphics card, Acer is giving its customers more than just killer frame rate-they get graphics plus features such as PhysX for hardware accelerated in game physics, 3D Vision, for HD 3D experience and CUDA for GPU Acceleration.
World's Fastest Notebook GPU The GeForce GTX 480M GPU is the world's fastest notebook GPU. Just like the desktop equivalent it was designed to be a tessellation monster and deliver amazing DX11 gaming performance. Gamestar, the biggest gaming website in German agrees: "The GeForce GTX 480M fulfills its promise, to be the fastest graphics card in notebooks. In our test, it beat the Mobility Radeon HD 5870 on average by 10-15 percent. " The first notebook PC manufacturer to announce GeForce GTX 480M notebooks is Clevo.
