Sans Digital, a leading provider of high performance storage subsystems, is introducing a revolutionary eco-friendly storage solution that increases energy efficiency by more than 10%. The newly designed 1U 4-bay EliteSTOR ES104T+ (silver) / ES104T+B (black) storage rackmount utilizes 80 PLUS certified power supply to increase power employment from the typical 70% to more than 80%, saving over 10% in electrical cost.

The Sans Digital Elite Plus series, including the EliteSTOR and EliteNAS, is one of the first series of storage systems on the market to utilize 80 PLUS certified power supplies. Regular power supplies waste roughly 30% or more energy as heat. 80 PLUS certified power supplies convert less energy into heat, reducing the heat output of the ES104T+. Reduced heat output in turn helps diminish operational noise by decreasing the use of cooling fans. With lesser cooling demands, the ES104T+ requires less monitoring and is more reliable, making it suitable for intensive data applications. In addition to the energy efficient power supply, the ES104T+ supports both SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) 3.0-Gb/s or SATA 3.0-Gb/s interfaces. The system includes four hot-swappable 3.5" trays, which are also compatible with the EliteNAS series, for easy hard drive installation and removal.

Supporting the latest 2TB hard drives, the ES104T+ could be paired with a RAID host bus adapter (HBA) to perform as an external RAID rackmount with 8TB in capacity. By utilizing four eSATA cables or an eSATA x 4 to mini-SAS (SFF-8088) fan-out cable, the ES104T+ is compatible with a wide range of SAS or eSATA controller cards from Adaptec, Areca, DELL, Highpoint, Intel, and LSI/3Ware.
