ASUS P8Z68 Series Motherboards Introduced
New Intel chipset with exclusive ASUS features
The Z68-series chipsets are very much the same as the P67 Sandy Bridge chipsets in terms of microprocessor architecture. You'll still get the same high-grade CPU performance you'd expect from P67, but with Z68 you can also enjoy SSD caching, Lucid Virtu.
Round out the board's feature stack with our now standard DIGI+ VRM and UEFI BIOS, and you have a motherboard that offers more than any other competing brand.
Building upon the successful P67 platform, the new Z68-series chipsets unlock even more processing potential with revolutionary SSD caching and Lucid Virtu1 features that deliver the versatility and power that gamers, mediaphiles, and hardware enthusiasts will crave.

SSD Caching
Using Intel Smart Response Technology, you can pair your Solid State Drive with a mechanical drive to enjoy SSD performance on a high-capacity hard drive. Games load faster, applications load faster. With Intel Smart Response Technology, your 1 TB 7200 RPM hard drive can act like a blazing fast Solid State Drive. This will prove convenient for users who want to have Solid State Drive level performance, but without the hassle of dealing with their limited capacity.
Lucid Virtu
Lucid Virtu finally brings to Sandy Bridge two benefits, the first of which is switchable graphics (between Integrated Graphics and discrete video card), the second of which a realistic user scenario for the Intel QuickSync technology. QuickSync offers the fastest video transcoding technology available on the market through Intel's Integrated Graphics (or iGPU). While this technology was available on H67, it was limited to the iGPU. A user with a discrete graphics card could not use both at once. This has been rectified - with Virtu, a user can use the iGPU and a discrete graphics card at the same time. They can simultaneously transcode a large video file off the iGPU and play Crysis 2 on the discrete graphics card, without seeing any slowdown in either.
DIGI+ VRM:
Recognized by third party media and users worldwide as a truly innovative design, DIGI+ VRM is now available on the new P8Z68 series to ensure best in class power delvery, greater performance, and rock solid stability over traditional analog power design.
DIGI+ VRM enables two useful functions: one is power-saving through the on-board Energy Processing Unit (EPU) and the other is overclock auto-tuning. Auto-tuning can automatically and intelligently determine your system's optimal overclock setting for maximum performance and minimal hassle.
UEFI BIOS:
Unified Extensible Firmware Interface does away with traditional, clunky BIOS to give you a mouse-controlled clean GUI for all your BIOS needs. It is still the leading BIOS solution, with native support for hard drives over 2.2 TB.
Let your customers know that Z68 motherboards from ASUS will be imbued with the same quality and best-in-class features as they always have been; making them the clear choice for anyone considering a motherboard upgrade.
