Asus N55SF-A1 Multimedia Notebook Debuts
New Multimedia Notebook Designed for Unparalleled AV
A notebook can be so much more than just a tool to accomplish a task. It can be a fashion statement, a trusted companion, or even a high tech gateway to the worlds of high definition music, movies, and games. The newly redesigned N55SF-A1 is all of the above, specifically designed to bring unparalleled audio visual bliss to mobile users.
SonicMaster: the New Benchmark for Notebook Audio
Co-designed with Bang & Olufsen ICEpower, SonicMaster is the definitive audio standard for mobile computing. SonicMaster sound on the N55 is implemented through a multiple-systems approach, beginning with usage of the best audio codecs, and proceeding through an 11W amplifier, and output through 2 x 32mm speakers that sit in 60cc chambers for fuller, richer sound.
The N55SF-A1 comes bundled with an external subwoofer that is designed to offer booming bass and handle all of the low frequency output. The subwoofer setup was designed in cooperation with Microsoft - only the ASUS N5 series allows users to listen to music from laptop speaker and a subwoofer at the same time.
Video Magic
ASUS Video Magic software enhances the visual experience through real time transcoding , making the most of NVIDIA CUDA GPU computing technology to maximize system performance. CUDA unlocks the inherent power of GPU processing to help with general computing, resulting in a much faster system that can handle heavier tasks with ease. While normal DVDs play at 740p at most, the True Theater feature upscales video to 1080p full HD with no performance drawbacks. At the same time, color and brightness settings are optimized, so movie viewing becomes even more of a pleasure.
The Right Hardware
Of course none of this would be possible without the right hardware. The N55SF employs an Intel Quad Core i7-2630QM 2.0GHz processor and NVIDIA GeForce GT 555 2GB graphics. Internal tests generate a 11,137 3DMark06 score, but the real proof is in the clear, flawless HD video playback the N55SF provides.
Delicious Design
Co-designed with David Lewis, the chief designer at Bang & Olufsen ICEpower, he N55 looks like it performs. It is flat, slim, and wrapped with a polished metal band. There are no forms, no details; just simple beauty. Open the N55 and you are treated to a panorama of strong lines, polished metal, and edge to edge glass, accented perfectly by a flat speaker grill that runs along the top of the integrated keyboard edge to edge.
Additional Features
N55 is further set apart by these useful innovations:
Instant On
Users can turn their computers on and off instantly, at the touch of a button, without a reboot.
Music Now
Users press one button and can enjoy music in 8 seconds.
USB Charge+
Users can charge mobile devices (e.g. phone & MP3 player) on the go, without a separate power adapter
HDMI 1.4
The HDMI 1.4 specification adds a data channel to the HDMI connection, enabling high-speed, bi-directional communication. Connected devices that include this feature can send and receive data via 100 Mb/sec Ethernet, making them instantly ready for any IP-based application.
N55 will be available from distribution in mid-August.
